Social Media Image Sizes

Current 2026 image sizes for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest and YouTube — feed posts, covers, banners and profile photos, all in one place.

Social media changes these dimensions more often than anyone would like, so treat this as a snapshot, not gospel. If you’re doing anything important, check the platform’s own help page. Last updated: July 2026.

Instagram & Facebook

Feed posts: 1080 x 1350px (portrait works best) or 1080 x 1080px (square)
Stories & Reels: 1080 x 1920px
Facebook cover photo: 820 x 312px

LinkedIn

Feed images: 1200 x 1200px
Link preview images: 1200 x 627px
Banner: 1584 x 396px

X (formerly Twitter)

Profile photo: 400 x 400px
Header: 1500 x 500px
Post images: square (1:1) or landscape (16:9) both work fine

Pinterest

Pins: 1000 x 1500px (2:3 ratio) — go much taller and Pinterest crops it

YouTube

Thumbnails: 1280 x 720px
Channel banner: upload at 2560 x 1440px, but keep logos and text inside the centre 1546 x 423px — that’s the part visible on every device

The one thing that doesn’t change

Whatever the exact pixel count, keep your most important content — faces, text, logos — away from the edges. Every platform crops differently on different devices, and the middle is the only bit guaranteed to survive.

If you’re setting up social accounts as part of a new site or business, my Tools I Use page covers what I actually use to build and run one.
